I work with individuals undergoing life transitions, changes, or losses, including those navigating the grief cycle and facing chronic or terminal illness. These experiences often evoke deep feelings and can catalyze discovery, healing, growth, and transformation.

Similarly, I work with artists and creatives to explore their blocks, fears, and insecurities—unlocking their innate creative energy and guiding them toward the vibrant artistic life their hearts yearn for.

I believe a person can grow, heal, and gain a better understanding of themselves within an environment that actively supports exploration and self-discovery. I also believe that life's challenges, contradictions, and paradoxical aspects provide valuable perspectives essential for grasping who we are and what it means to be human.

I am particularly interested in how curiosity and open dialogue can help us peel back the layers of our inner narrative, revealing the rich, often hidden aspects of ourselves.

Through insight and self-awareness, I believe we can connect with the core of who we are beyond the expectations and influences of others, and thereby bring our lives into greater harmony and wholeness.

My
Approach.

Think of your mind as a vast, deep ocean with hidden currents, sunken treasures, and mysterious depths. Together, we navigate these underwater realms to uncover the gems that lie beneath, revealing insights and wisdom that have been concealed.

As we explore, we might encounter memories, feelings, or dreams, along with cultural expectations and norms that we didn’t know were there but have been shaping how we see the world. By bringing these hidden aspects to the surface, we can start to feel more like ourselves, more liberated, and more ready to write our own story—one that’s true to who we really are, regardless of our age or chapter of life.

1

Grief / Loss / Change

Grief tending is about actively caring for and addressing your grief. It's not about rushing through the pain or trying to “fix” it but about nurturing your feelings of loss with compassion and patience. This process involves acknowledging the depth of your sorrow, creating space to fully feel and express your emotions, and finding ways to honor and remember what you have lost. By developing a relationship with death and acknowledging the impermanence of life, you can deepen your appreciation for the present moment. This awareness fosters a greater sense of purpose and helps you prioritize what truly matters, integrating your loss in a meaningful way.

2

Artists / Creatives

As an artist, you might feel stuck, uninspired, or struggle with self-doubt. Performers often face stage fright, forget their lines, or have difficulty embodying characters. For some, the dream of a creative or artistic life remains out of reach. In my experience, these are symptoms of underlying psychological complexes that influence how you engage with your creativity. These complexes involve deep-seated beliefs, past experiences, or emotional patterns that impact your confidence and artistic expression. Addressing the root cause helps you overcome obstacles and unlock your full creative potential, bringing you closer to achieving the artistic life you envision.

3

Psychological Professionals

I am committed to supporting psychological professionals as they navigate their careers. This work focuses on deepening your connection to both your practice and yourself. Through guidance, I assist you in building a career that feels sustainable and aligned with your values, with attention to balance and self-care. Together, we shape a practice that honors both your professional and inner life.

Examples of Life Transitions.

Relocating: Moving to a new city or home brings excitement but can also leave you feeling unsettled and disconnected.

Graduation: Transitioning from school to the wider world is a proud moment often tinged with anxiety about the future.

Career Changes: A job shift or loss offers new opportunities but also brings uncertainty and insecurity.

Relationship Changes: Ending a relationship can be both a painful goodbye and a chance for newfound freedom.

Parenthood: Welcoming a new child is full of joy and overwhelm, like a powerful storm that changes everything.

Midlife Slump (or Midlife Crisis): Midlife brings a mix of past successes and current doubts, challenging your sense of self and purpose.

Embarking on a Passion or New Hobby: Diving into a new interest can be exhilarating and rewarding, yet it may disrupt your routines and self-identity, requiring a period of adjustment.

Bereavement: The death of a loved one creates a profound sense of grief, mixed with the comfort of cherished memories.

Empty Nest: As children leave home, you might feel a blend of freedom and loss, as if the landscape has shifted.

Retirement: Leaving work provides relaxation and new possibilities but can also bring a sense of loss.

Health Challenges: Serious illness or injury can cause fear and frustration while revealing inner strength.

Aging: Growing older involves reflecting on achievements and facing new limitations, blending nostalgia with reality.

About Me.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor based in Asheville, North Carolina, with a virtual practice serving clients statewide. My academic foundation was laid at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. I graduated with a Master’s degree in Expressive Arts Therapy and Mental Health Counseling in 2007 and was further enriched by 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training at Asheville Yoga Center. I’ve also pursued continuing education in Eco Psychology and Jungian Psychology.

With nearly two decades in the mental health field—encompassing college counseling, residential treatment, intensive outpatient care, and private practice—I have refined my skills in deep listening, genuine empathy, and focused care. Additionally, I’ve taught in both undergraduate and graduate school programs, supporting the development and education of future counselors.

My love for film, art, music, and poetry reflects how I joyfully engage with life and my creative passions. And if you’re wondering about my love for poodles—well, it’s not just about their charm. It’s a nod to the playful spirit and resilience that can help us all navigate life’s ups and downs.
